464. The Friend Gap: What Happens to Your Friendships When You Start Growing Fast
Does growth mean it’s time to abandon your long-time friends?
I’m finally at a spot where I’m going all in on growth, but for so long, I allowed myself to play small. This journey has illuminated some of the reasons I held myself back in the past, and one of those is the friend gap.
Today, you’ll hear about my real life experiences with this gap and what I learned about dealing with it. I’ll also share the friendship shift that can help you embrace growth without feeling burdened by the reactions or feelings of others.
In this episode, you will learn about:
The comments made by an acquaintance that made me question her intentions.
What happens when you become successful and “unrelatable.”
Why some people feel entitled to your success (but absolutely aren’t).
What happens to your potential when you shrink to fit your friendships.
Why you need to hang out with people who are not surprised by your capacity.
What you need to focus on to become the person you want to be.
How the friend gap is a good thing (because it actually means you’re expanding).
